Who is HBF and what type of Optical Extras Cover do they offer?

The Australian Government via Medicare will cover general medical expenses, and as such Medicare will cover an Eye Test performed by an Optometrist.

When you have Private Health Insurance you are provided greater choice and flexibility, and using the example above once the Eye Test is finished you can then proceed to purchase a pair of prescription glasses and then claim the cost of the purchase through your Health Insurance such as with HBF. As with all Health Insurance policies the amount covered is dependent upon your level of Extras Cover, so you will generally receive some or a certain percentage of the purchase price back. Presently over 50% of Australians have Private Health Cover and of those a further 50% have selected Extras Cover which would include an annual Optical Allowance.

HBF are Western Australia’s largest and trusted Health Insurance provider. HBF currently have over 900,000 members they look after daily.

HBF offer their members several options when it comes to Optical Extras Cover which includes an Optical Allowance each year. HBF are fairly up front on how much you get back on Optical every time you claim. However if you are a HBF member and still a little confused, then we recommend you click on the following link to find out more details on Health Cover and Extras Cover you have;

We have attempted to make life a little easier for you, so in the table below you will find a summary of the Optical Extras Cover provided by HBF Health Insurance, however please note this table is only a guide as to what you can expect should expect from HBF when you claim your Optical Allowance based on Optical Frames with Single Vision Lens.

However we definitely recommend you contact HBF to confirm your Extras Cover and Annual Optical Benefits before proceeding to purchasing prescription glasses or prescription sunglasses.

How can Frankie Dean help make maximise my claim with HBF Optical Allowance and take the pain out of the process for me?

Claiming Optical Extras can be difficult, most people swipe their card at an Optometrist and told then what they can claim. This would place you in the category of one of the many Australians whom have Extras Cover that still has a GAP amount to pay to the Optometrist after utilising your annual Optical Allowance. We think it’s fair to say that you Optical Benefits don’t stretch too far when purchasing through traditional Optometry retail stores.

So we ask, wouldn’t you be thrilled to purchase Prescription Glasses or Prescription Sunglasses annually with NO GAP or with a very little GAP to pay. Through traditional retail means this can unachievable for HBF members, in particular at the large corporate chain stores or even at your local optometrist. However were you aware that Frankie Dean is registered with the majority of Health Funds in Australia including HBF? We can even be found on the HBF website;
